Market Match Program

Eating healthy is easier when you have access to fresh, affordable choices. Market Match is an incentive program that doubles your CalFresh/EBT dollars and WIC Fruit and Vegetable Checks (FVCs) when you purchase fruits and vegetables at the farmers markets. Please visit the local farmers markets and ask about Market Match Program at the market’s information booth or the market managers how to use your CalFresh EBT card.

The market staff person will swipe your card, and you will receive CalFresh EBT tokens to spend on any eligible food item at the market and the market staff person will match your CalFresh and WIC benefits and other Fruits and Vegetable Vouchers or checks providing you with Market Match tokens to spend on fruits and veggies.

Gardening

Gardening can be a great way to grow food. CalFresh Food (EBT) can be used to purchase food seeds and plant starts. This gives people an option to increase the fruits and vegetables that are available to them.

Eat Better from Your Garden

When we eat better, we also feel and look better. Fruits and vegetables taste great, are low-calorie source of fiber, vitamins, and minerals, and give you fuel for your active day. They also help lower your risk of obesity and other serious health problems. You can be better today by eating a rainbow of color and flavor from fresh, frozen, canned, and dried fruits and vegetables.

Have you ever considered growing your own veggies? Not only is gardening at home a great way to get more fresh veggies into your daily snacks and meals, it is a fun physical activity that the whole family can do together. Starting a garden is easier than you might think.
